My Background
My Mom, Edith, always mentioned as she would cut fabric for various projects (things from clothing, to toys, to quilts) how we came from a long line of accomplished seamstresses stretching as far as my great great great grandparents who served as the Queen of Sweden's minister and seamstress (or so she told). My Great Grandmother made Teddy Bears (and was well known for it) and my Grandmother crochet colorful afghans which I still have today.
These are moments in time with people dear to me when I had some of my happiest moments. Watching Mom sit at her sewing machine and tinker happily with the bobbins, threading needles while listening to old albums. The one thing she said to me me that stuck the most was how she felt liberated and free by being able to enjoy doing what she loved without concern.
